Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and (optionally) a username. Teachers and school administrators may also provide a school name.
Authentication Data: We support sign-in via email/password, Google Sign-In, Apple Sign-In, and Clever SSO. We receive only the minimum profile information required for authentication from these providers.
Usage and Progress Data: We collect data about learning progress, including quiz scores, lesson completion, proficiency levels, and songs played. This data is used to personalize the learning experience.
Device Information: We may collect basic device and platform information (operating system, app version) for crash reporting and performance monitoring.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and personalize the learning experience, including adaptive difficulty, recommendations, and progress tracking
- To allow teachers to view student progress within their classrooms

3. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
Make Music Count is designed for learners from Pre-K through 8th grade. We take children's privacy seriously and comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental or school consent
- Student accounts created through school/teacher administration are covered under the school's consent under COPPA's school official exception
- We do not serve behavioral advertising to any users
- We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide the educational service
- Parents or guardians may contact us at any time to review, delete, or stop the collection of their child's information
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Google Firebase: Authentication, database (Firestore), cloud storage, analytics, and crash reporting
- Google AdMob: Ads may be displayed to non-student users. We do not show personalized ads to children
- Clever: Single sign-on for schools using the Clever platform
These services have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase infrastructure with encryption in transit and at rest. We implement security rules to ensure users can only access their own data, and teachers can only access data for students in their classrooms.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain account and progress data for as long as the account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us. Upon deletion, all personal information and learning data will be permanently removed within 30 days.

You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you or your child
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and data
- Opt out of non-essential communications
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes through the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
